Summer memories - Texture & preset play

My original photo and my edited photo with textures by French Kiss Studio and 2 Lil Owls
I found some this photo of a daisy from last summer from my memory card - and it inspired my to play with textures and Lightroom presets.

I started with adding the text to the upper left corner - it is a stamp from French Kiss textures. Thereafter the one texture took the other ... I wanted to create a sort of an old photo, with worn and vintage like feeling. Adding some texture layers with blending modes Saturation and Lumination, created the washed, desaturated look.

Then I took the texturized photo into the Lightroom, where I created virtuel copies of the photo, and tried out different Lightroom presets on it. The most presets are by 2 Lil Olws, one is from Contrastly and one is mine.

Once Upon A Day

Daisies
small perfections,
white lips of nature
each one a star from God,

LR Preset Infrared by Contrastly

Breeze dusts their golden faces
as they search for the sky,
mute as the breath of angels
their voices still travel in beauty
calling to the birds singing to the bees

LR Preset Matte Glam 14 by 2 Lil Owls
they dance with the wind
till chubby fingers lift their hearts
entwining them into tiny circles
each one a study of love
created to lie in drapes on cherubic arms

LR preset At the Vineyard B/W 5 by 2 Lil Owls

Transformed they become much more,
haloes of nature
a childs wish, a parent's hope,
small pockets of sunshine,
so much beauty in such tiny amounts
on a green day,

My own LR preset TheBirkes

Small links between the grass and play,
visible moments
of golden childhood,
intangible almost
they live on in the heart and memories
of once upon a day.

Yes.. I am looking forward to summer ...
As well as I am enjoying right now the signs of spring and the days,
that are getting longer,

Eremitage Forest, Easter 2016

We had a long walk in the Eremitage Forest yesterday, on Maundy Thursday. As the autumn leaves are decaying, you can see the new life is arising, in the form of buds and green shoots of grass.
Such a tangible reminder of the Easter message - Jesus dying on the cross on Good Friday, and rising from the grave on Easter Sunday - so we can have the fullness of life, the weight and bondage of sin being lifted away from our shoulders, and moreover, the gift of eternal life.

Below a beautiful spring poem by Becca Steven:

 Between fleeting and eternal

The space between fleeting and eternal lives
Around unexpected corners, near the turn of the seasons,
In the joyful wonder of the forest.

The background music of leafy trees sharing a melody
With a rushing river, for a chorus, grows louder in our ears.

The old mountain from where comes our strength is, for a moment,
dancing with a misty cloud that is on a dead run to beat the day.

The space between when the water takes a dive
from the mountain and before it lands, looks like a still life.
When we blink it will be over.

The sound will fade, the cloud disperse,
And the water rush towards another shore.

But for this brief, eternal moment, it is lovely.

...Until next time,

Nina

Knitting Grey

Moments with knitting are a form of wellness for me ... I found this grey woolen yarn and a recipe for a poncho some weeks ago, and this afternoon was calling for some knitting. Knitting with needles number 8 is nice - it enables you to get some visible results within a short time.

I have a confession to make - I grew tired knitting a cardigan with needles number 2 ... So I did set that project aside for a while, and have picked up this poncho instead.

Including myself in the photos more often is something I'm trying to remember - so as the light was fine this afternoon, I did set up the tripod and used the auto shutter. Setting the focus right took some trial and error ... I did get my daily motion for sure, jumping back and forth when adjusting the settings!

... Wishing you a peaceful weekend,

Nina

Tulips & Sunshine

The melody of spring is found in tulips ...
Light playing on the pretty petals,
highlighting the form & textures.

:   :   :

I bought these tulips Friday on my way home from work,
and have enjoyed seeing them open in the weekend.

... Sunshine to your week
and silver linings a cloudy days,

Embracing

So here’s what I want you to do, God helping you:
Take your everyday, ordinary life
your sleeping, eating, going-to-work, and walking-around life—
and place it before God as an offering.

Embracing what God does for you is the best thing you can do for him.
Don’t become so well-adjusted to your culture that you fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, fix your attention on God. You’ll be changed from the inside out.
Readily recognize what he wants from you, and quickly respond to it.
Unlike the culture around you, always dragging you down to its level of immaturity,
God brings the best out of you, develops well-formed maturity in you.

Gluten free pancakes with tahini and apple

And the weekend has arrived! After a fairly busy week, it is lovely to spend some time in the kitchen ... making something nice for a late breakfast.

These gluten free pancakes are easy to prepare - everyone in the family likes them - one batch dough makes 10 middle sized pancakes. Not having any berries to go with the pancakes, I used an apple with tahini and maple syrup, and it worked fine, making a fresh and tasty topping.

Gluten free pancakes

Ingredients
2 dl gluten free flour mix (I used Mic it! Universal by Schär)
0.5 teaspoon salt
4 dl / 1,7 cup milk of your choice
2 eggs
2 tablespoons melted butter or margarine

1. Put the flour mix and salt into a large bowl and stir them together.
2. Pout the milk, little by little, and whisk into a dough using a mixer.
3. Add the eggs into the dough, one by one, whisking them to the batter, and add the smelted butter or margarine.
4. Fry the pancakes on a frying pan in butter or oil.

Apple-tahini-syrup topping

Ingredients
2 apples
6 teaspoons of tahini
2 teaspoons of maple syrup

Grate the well rinsed apples (I used organic apples so I didn't peel them).
Stir the tahini and maple syrup together, pour the blending on the grated apples and mix well - and serve on the top of the pancakes.

Wishing you a peaceful weekend,

Nina
