My Monday started with migraine ... In the late afternoon, as I was feeling better, I took a snapshot with my iPhone and edited it in Snapseed, Afterlight, Mextures & VSCOcam apps - Trying to convey the mismatch in the body and thoughts, migraine can cause: The state of between being awake and in sleep, trying to avoid light as much as possible, yet not being able to see in the dark ... and the gaps and cracks in thoughts and in the state of awareness.

I enjoy the moments listening our son as he plays piano - Especially the melodies he is making up him self.
An old cross-stitch work, I found from a flee market two years ago, is hanging beside our main door. Every now and then, the moving air is making the tiny bell hanging on it, to ring ... This tiny sound has become a cozy melody of it's own, telling someone has arrived or is about to leave.
I took the photo with Camera+, then edited it in Snapseed (Retrolux). I added an Antiqued-texture in Photo Toaster, and some texture layers in Stackables app.

Chicken Miso Soup has become one of our the favourite soups - Our boys like it so much that I cook it two -three times a month! Having prepared it so many times, I know the recipe by heart now - It takes just a half an hour to make it, and tastes great! (The original recipe recommends Ramen noodles, but I am using thin rice noodles instead, since they are without gluten).
The gluten free diet has had a very positive effect on my thyroid values - they are back in the normal range now - so I am trying a bunch of new recipes at the moment. I have found a recipe for a delicious, dark bread - and some recipes for sweet taste as well.
What is your favourite thing to cook at the moment - new inspiration to kitchen is always welcome, ain't it!
...Have a great weekend,
Nina

What a soft picturesque post with a small glimpse into your world, Nina.
ReplyDeleteI have never experienced a migraine, but have had some strong head and neck aches and always think of those such as yourself, and have great sympathy for you.
There is something about the comfortof soup, isn't there? I could enjoy soup daily, but my husband is not real fond of it.
Have a beautiful blessed day.
Joy!

Your beautiful, creative, peaceful soul shines in each shot, Nina.
ReplyDeleteMigraines are miserable, glad you are feeling better and I hope they stay away!
Enjoy your weekend. :)
Such beautiful pictures.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful images. I am glad you are feeling better, a migraine can really ruin a day...
ReplyDeleteI have been making chili. Nothing fancy. It is just warm comfort food on these chilly days.
Have a great weekend!
I have total sympathy for you Nina. I suffer with hemaplegic migraines - pretty much like a mini stroke. Nothing makes sense and it knocks me out completely. Your third image captures the feeling I get perfectly. As for cooking, at the moment it has to be slow cooked casseroles that fill the house with delicious comforting smells on cold days. Have a wonderful weekend xx
ReplyDeleteNina, I really like when you tell how you created your photos. All 3 are very dreamy. I wish you'd include a recipe to that miso soup. (I liked the half hour to make part.) I cooked all day yesterday because my family is coming to ski this weekend. I made kid-friendly dishes like pasta casserole, applesauce, meatloaf, potato salad, and corn pudding.
ReplyDeleteNina...you have conveyed, through pictures, how hard it is to accept light and brightness when we feel poorly... feel better soon :0)
ReplyDeleteSorry you had a migraine BUT that selfie is wonderful ....
ReplyDeleteMiso soup ... have never tried it ... now you've got my curiosity up and running! :-)

Migraines are horrible. So sorry to hear that you suffer from them. Great selfie and edit.
ReplyDeleteDear Nina, I am so sorry that you, too, suffer with migraines. I have had seven of them in the past 12 days. Just today my neurologist put me on Topamax to try and prevent them. It's anti-seizure medication which is now also used to try to prevent migraines. Has your doctor prescribed anything for them?
ReplyDeleteThe miso soup sounds wonderful -and I have been gluten free for 18 months now. Also dairy free. Yesterday I cooked up a wonderful batch of Hungarian cabbage/beef/vegetable soup. We actually just call it Sunday Soup because my grandmother used to make it every Sunday. Now I have passed the recipe down to my niece -the fourth generation!

So sorry to hear that you suffer with migraines, but glad you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteOh I so feel your migraine pain...and even if I didn't, your photo would relay it to me. I understand it completely. Glad u r feeling better now.
ReplyDeleteSorry about the migraine, so not fun! Gorgeous images, though!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for the link to the soup. Actually, I have never heard of it, but looks like something I would like. With just hubby and I now in our empty nest and both retired, I am actually a very lazy cook. The easier the better. Sometimes our favorite is just cereal, but lately we've been a fan of the open face roast beef. So awesome your son plays the piano. Our daughter took lessons for a bit in grade/middle school and I was so disappointed when she no longer wanted to. She just wasn't that much into it. Since the hubby was a traveling musician when we married, we later had a family band that played private parties and clubs and both our sons play. One plays drums and trumpet and the other bass and alto sax. I never ever minded listening to them practice (even the drummer) even though some parents would comment how do you stand that, but he ended up a very awesome drummer so listening to that practice was a necessity. Hubby played tenor sax, but no longer. It has been quite a while since those days as our kids are way into middle age now, but I am thrilled that the drummer and the bass player now help out with music at Church.
ReplyDeleteMigraines are such a pain. I don't have them as often as I use to, but the daughter has always had the really bad ones.
I am impressed at your work with the iPhone! Migraine are dreadful. Hoping they resolve soon!
ReplyDeleteOh, I can't imagine having to live with migraines, Nina ... your description on how you cope is so poetic ... I love that you can listen to the sound of the bells tinkling letting you know as your family comes and goes. Thank you so much for taking the time to link up to the party. I hope you are feeling better.
ReplyDeleteYour images are indeed dreamy, my friend. I am a piano player so the photo of the piano keys and lovely fingers "spoke" to me. Simply lovely, dear Nina! Hugs to you!
ReplyDeleteOh my I found you again.. lost your blog address when I lost my email and blog.. Don't know if you will remember but super thrilled I found you again I sure enjoy your post. I live a gluten free eating over a year now and it does wonders for me too..
