With just hubby and I now in our empty nest and both retired, I am actually a very lazy cook. The easier the better. Sometimes our favorite is just cereal, but lately we've been a fan of the open face roast beef. So awesome your son plays the piano. Our daughter took lessons for a bit in grade/middle school and I was so disappointed when she no longer wanted to. She just wasn't that much into it. Since the hubby was a traveling musician when we married, we later had a family band that played private parties and clubs and both our sons play. One plays drums and trumpet and the other bass and alto sax. I never ever minded listening to them practice (even the drummer) even though some parents would comment how do you stand that, but he ended up a very awesome drummer so listening to that practice was a necessity. Hubby played tenor sax, but no longer. It has been quite a while since those days as our kids are way into middle age now, but I am thrilled that the drummer and the bass player now help out with music at Church.
Migraines are such a pain. I don't have them as often as I use to, but the daughter has always had the really bad ones.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3055889616423195136.post-63270450947274816712015-01-24T15:51:01.173+01:002015-01-24T15:51:01.173+01:00Sorry about the migraine, so not fun! I have had seven of them in the past 12 days. Just today my neurologist put me on Topamax to try and prevent them. It's anti-seizure medication which is now also used to try to prevent migraines. Has your doctor prescribed anything for them?
The miso soup sounds wonderful -and I have been gluten free for 18 months now. Also dairy free. Yesterday I cooked up a wonderful batch of Hungarian cabbage/beef/vegetable soup. We actually just call it Sunday Soup because my grandmother used to make it every Sunday. Now I have passed the recipe down to my niece -the fourth generation!
:) m & jbMaureen @ Josephina Ballerinahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/09026799070718705353noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3055889616423195136.post-80175364495342584932015-01-24T01:03:46.829+01:002015-01-24T01:03:46.829+01:00Migraines are horrible. All 3 are very dreamy. I wish you'd include a recipe to that miso soup. (I liked the half hour to make part.) I cooked all day yesterday because my family is coming to ski this weekend. I made kid-friendly dishes like pasta casserole, applesauce, meatloaf, potato salad, and corn pudding. Your third image captures the feeling I get perfectly. As for cooking, at the moment it has to be slow cooked casseroles that fill the house with delicious comforting smells on cold days.
