Creative License Friday #2

This weeks beautiful photo in Creative License Friday is submitted by Cathy. I fell for the shiny reflections of sunlight in Cathys photo, and I felt like playing with these reflections in some way.

Using a texture from Lenabem-Anna (I found Anna's textures by a co-bloggers creative editing at last weeks Creative License Friday), I enchanged the sunlight to moonlight. The moon in Anna's texture is positioned such in a way that it suits to the reflections on the water in Cathy's photo.

I enchanged the tones a bit, softened the image lightly and added some vignet-effect in Picmonkey ... trying to be careful not to over-edit, beholding a bit of the oli canvas-like texture.

A poem from Christina Rosetti fits to athmospehere of the moonlight ...

Is the moon tired? she looks so pale
Within her misty veil:
She scales the sky from east to west,
And takes no rest.
Before the coming of the night
The moon shows papery white;
Before the dawning of the day
She fades away.

A Happy Surprise - Inspiring Blog Award

As I popped by Our Old Homestead this Monday - one of my favourite blogs that daily cheers me up - I was surprised to receive an Inspiring Blog award from Debbie! I am so happy for the reward, thank you very much Debbie!
Here are the rules for accepting the Inspiring Blog award:

1. Each blogger should post 7 random facts about themselves.

2. Pass the award along to two blogs that inspire you.

Here are the 7 random facts about myself:

1. It takes time, and a large mug of tea, for me to wake up in the morning.

2. I'm a nature enthusiast - Wherever I have lived, I've been lucky to find a lake / sea and a park / forest nearby. When I walk about in the nature and forests, I'll "save" some images of beautiful places, voices and scents, so that can remember them later on, and relive the moments.

3. I wish te could get our own poppy one day: I've grewn up with a dog in the house, and know how nice it is to come home and find a "Woofie" welcoming you carrying an old shoe, and also that you need to walk it 3 times a day in every kind of weather.

This picture is from the website of our local library.

4. My favourite verse is from the Gospel of John 14:28:
"Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."

5. Sometimes it's confusing to be in between two countries / cultures: I do not know the Finnish celebrities anymore, there's new words in Finnish that I've never heard of, and I create my own words in Finnish for the amusement of my relatives & friends there. In Denmark, even if I speak Danish fluently, I have an accent, and people keep asking me if I come from Norway (One person asked me if I came from Jutland, I took that as a compliment - it's inside Danish borders ... ;)

6. I try to live in the present moment and enjoy it (so I won't be tempted to worry about tomorrow- that wastes both time & energy). Living a life to the fullest for me means to be "present" with my family, friends and people in general - but in order to do that, I need some moments alone too.

7. Sometimes I wish I still could posses the natural ability to play, that children have - maybe when immerced in a good novel I occasionally experience that still.

... Well, now that I've shared the 7 random facts about me, it's my turn to nominate two of the many blogs that inspire me - I wish it would be possible to give the award to all of you wonderful co-bloggers! But having a personality with a fairly strong conscientiousness trait, I'm going to stick to the rules and nominate the following two blogs:

1. Dawn from Words of Deliciousness - Dawn's cooking and baking recipes are scrumptious and versatile:    I always find inspiration to my kitchen from her !

and

2. Amanda from Wildly Simple - Amanda's nature photography is amazingly beuatiful and she shares handy DIY tips on how to remodel your furniture and other things  - recycling and environmentally friendly solutions - not to forget her delicious recipes!

Thank you again, Debbie, for this award!

Wishing you a lovely Sunday,
and a warm welcome to
new followers
Tess, Dena and De Mons!

Serenity you

... New every morning

"I remember it all—oh, how well I remember—
the feeling of hitting the bottom.
But there’s one other thing I remember,
and remembering, I keep a grip on hope:
God’s loyal love couldn’t have run out,
his merciful love couldn’t have dried up.
They’re created new every morning.
How great your faithfulness!"

Spring is in the air

The sun was warm but the wind was chill.
You know how it is with an April day

When the sun is out and the wind is still,
You're one month on in the middle of May.

But if you so much as dare to speak,
A cloud comes over the sunlit arch,

A wind comes off a frozen peak,
And you're two months back in the middle of March.

The sun has been gracious this week - spring is in the air! I was priviledged to visit a "forest kindergarten" this week - the sun rays caressed my cheeks as I bicycled the rest of the narrow road to the old farm.

I took these snapshots along the way ...
A scrumped red berry hang all alone in the bush - it has survived the frost and the snow, without being eaten by the birds og squirrels ...
The ice on the lake is smelting, there's only a few spots of snow here and there under the trees...

The spring awakens my desire to be creative - to craft with bright, colorful papers and materials to bring about a new breath of life inside the house as well.

I look forward of crafting some small Easter decorations this weekend ...
Hopefully a walk at the Bernstroff Palace Gardens - maybe to find some more buds in the bushes and trees?!

A warm welcome to my new blogger friend & follower Crystal!

Breakfast Smoothie with Blueberries, Pear and Tofu

Smoothie with tofu contains a lot of proteins and keeps the hunger pangs away until lunchtime. I was inspired to try this recipe by Marika, who serves it as a pudding to her kids - and they love it! She underlines that the pear needs to be almost over ripe, in order to sweeten the smoothie. Our pears weren't that ripe, so I sweetened the smoothie with a ½ teaspoon stevia and a ½ teaspoon vanilla sugar.

You will need: (2 portions)

1 ripe pear
½ cup soft tofu (I used Silken)
1 cup frozen blueberries
½ cup cold water
(taste and sweeten if necessary)

Mix the ingredients in a blender and serve - Easy Peasy!
