For me the bright green leaves of birch trees is a sign that the spring has arrived and the summer is just around the corner. My eyes were resting on the forests and lakes, as I was landing to Savolax in Finland, where I've grown up. I was curious to see if there were any buds in the birch trees ...
The first days we got rain and sun - and I could almost see, how the birch leaves were appearing from the buds - day by day.
The smell of the fresh forest was such a pleasure after the rain! The view from the hanging bridge was amazing - I'll post more pictures with the river view during the weekend.
The surroundings were getting greener - this bright, new green color against the white trunks is a miracle that we're able to witness each May.
The leaves have heart-shaped form - like small clusters of green hearts growing in the branches.
So happy I was able to see the birch trees go green -
together with my parents,
in the forests from my childhood landscapes!
Thank you Rebecca, Kristi and Alicia
for the Spring Nurture Photography Challenge!
Such a lovely post, Nina.. reminds me of home, too. We are finally greening up with buds everywhere! We had four days of rain, and that seems to have done the trick. Birch are always some of my favorite trees of home!
ReplyDeleteAnd WOW - I love that aerial photo from above!
Hi Amanda, I can imagine the long road from the mountaintop ( a Picture from one of your latest posts) - now with green trees on both sides! I look forward of seeing some of the green & buds, you're admiring at the moment :)

ReplyDeleteYes, the rain is refreshing and nourishing (it makes you wet but in the warm summer weather that doesn't matter :)
DeleteOh that birch tree bark is so pretty! I love birchs, I definitely need to get one or two!
ReplyDeleteI recommend Birch trees - you get also some very healthy sirup from them in spring :)
DeleteOh my goodness what a view from the plane -- lovely place -- hope to see more of your childhood landscape.. that's a really cool shot looking up into the top of the birch trees show the bark peeling - but my favorite is #4..

The bark was like parchment paper - at the end of summer, when it was thicker, we used to make little boats from the Birch bark of fallen trees ;)
DeleteLove that birch tree bark.
