Connetectedness

This weeks eDition in Texture Tuesday is Let's Celebrate. In the aftermath of the dramatic explosions in the Boston Marathon, I thought we could celebrate the connectedness between people and nations ...

The social media is filled with expressions of feeling with and praying for the citizens of Boston, the wounded and the involved.
In one way we're all involved ... being each others fellowmen - sharing this time and moment in history together.

Selfabsortion in all its forms kill empathy, let alone compassion.

When we focus on ourselves,
our world contracts as our problems and preoccupations loom large.

But when we focus on others, out world expands.
Our own problems drift to the periphery of the mind and so seem smaller,
and we increase our capacity for connection -- or compassionate action.
Daniel Goleman

Sometimes, reaching out and taking someone's hand
is the beginning of a journey.
At other times, it is allowing another to take yours.

  2. Nina, we may be on the other side of the world but we are all affected by the events at the Boston Marathon - so random, so horrible. Thinking of all my friends in the US today.

PS Lovely pic and quote - so appropriate

    1. So sometimes the crises can make us see that it could have happened to any if us ... Identifying with one another and realizing we are all in the same boat ... Wonderful to witness people reaching out to one another.
