Light - One Word 2016

I have chosen Light as the my word for 2016.

Looking for light in many aspects, hoping the process to be molding & shaping ~ leaving a trail and maybe some changes, reflections and deepened insight ....

Light is defined as
~ The natural agent that stimulates sight and makes things visible
~ Of little weight; not heavy
~ Come upon or discover by chance
[Oxford Dictionary]

Light is the essence in photography ...

Embrace light. Admire it. Love it. But above all, know light.
Know it for all you are worth, and you will know the key to photography.
George Eastman

Light diet in the sense of nutrition and sustainability of the ingredients ... not following any special rules or regulations, but paying attention to use the seasonal vegetables and fruits, produced close by if possible

Take care of your body. Its the only place you have to live.
Jim Rohn

I like the symbolical way the Apostle John, writer of the Gospel of John, uses light his Gospel and letters ... Not only as an illumination of God and Christ, but also referring to both choices we make - moving towards light / away from light.

In him was life, and the life was the light of men.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it
John 1:4-5.

One's day can be lightened up ... and you can lighten up the day of someone else

Not all of us can do great things.
But we can do small things with great love.
Mother Theresa

Month in Photos [March 2015]

It was one of those March days
when the sun was hot and the wind blows cold:
when it is summer in the light,
and winter in the shade.

Charles Dickens

Yes, Charles Dickens describes the March days in a nutshell - Light and sun, with a fresh and cold breeze.

Looking back to March, I remember:

  • Early mornings with tea ... Sun rays creating plays of shadow and light in the kitchen
  • Having the wooden Cubebot-robot as my muse for the daily pictures - it was a good kick start, but Cutebot took a bit too much attention in the photos, so I decide to exclude him from the frame
  • Enjoying the soft afternoon light on my back as I was biking home from work
  • Sharing the joy of our younger son, who has been learning new card tricks ... It's amazing and impossible to figure out, how he does it
  • The pleasure of listening to the old, classic masterpieces, as our older son practices for his piano lessons
  • Finding inspiration via photography courses at SkillShare
  • And the inevitable winter flu, that finally caught me and made me stay in bed a few days ... just sleeping
  • The joy of spotting sighs of spring all around ... Yes, the spring has arrived - with buds, flowers, sun, rain and - snow!

Above a peek into the daily captures (well, almost daily - with the exception of the flu),

Nina

Whenever there is stillness there is the still small voice,

To part is the lot of mankind. The world is a scene of constant leave-taking,
and the hands that grasp in cordial greeting today,
are doomed ere long to unite for the last time,
when the quivering lips pronounce the word - 'Farewell'.

R.M. Ballantyne

My last day at my former work place: Saying good bye to dear colleagues through the last 5 years -

the last walk on the path along the field ...
and reorientating towards starting at my new work.

Sit with me in the shade of these green trees,
which have no weightier thought than
the withering of their leaves when autumn arrives,
or the stretching of their many stiff fingers
into the cold sky of the passing winter.

From time to time, to remind ourselves to relax and be peaceful, we may wish to set aside some time for a retreat, a day of mindfulness, when we can walk slowly, smile, drink tea with a friend, enjoy being together as if we are the happiest people on Earth.

My One Word for 2014, Unhurried, has been a wonderful companion throughout this year. It has taken me to places of rest and quietness. It has helped me to slow down, and to focus on the things that matter most.

I am grateful for all the moments, people, places, challenges, surprises ... in my daily life and here in blogging fellowships. I am thankful for each of my friends here on blog space, for having travelled along - sharing, inspiring and popping by ...

Thank you for having been a part of my year - It wouldn't have been the same without you!

As we already have entered into 215,
I am wishing you a Happy New Year -
With new adventures and moments to unfold!

Nina
